The body fascinates me, in particular its aesthetic power but also what it symbolises. It  represents on the one hand human strength - it is an exceptionally designed machine that is programmed to keep us alive. On the other it represents our most fundamental fragility - death - as the body will be guaranteed to diminish with age, despite human attempts to make us immortal.

The body doesn’t just represent life and death, but also living, as it is so intensely wrapped up with cultural ideals and meanings of what beauty is. The body is also a story teller, and can through body actions represent human experience - strength, passion, vulnerability, heroism, sadness, joy, failure, success, just through the positioning of arms and legs, seen so brilliantly in history/ action paintings throughout time. A single body position can tell a story in a single image.
